Stylus is proud to present one of Australia’s biggest breaks exports, Smithmonger. 

Smithmonger, AKA Paul Smith, orginally hails from Tasmania. After a period in Sydney as a professional trumpet player, Paul moved to London to further his electronic production work. This appears to have paid massive dividends, with releases on high profile labels such as TCR, Bushwacka’s Oblong Label, 10Kilo, Vertical Sounds, and Supercharged, as well as a string of remix projects. The coming months sees no decline in his release schedule, with pending releases on The Payback Project and 10 Kilo. This will be Smithmonger‘s first Melbourne appearance, and he has promised to tear the house down with plenty of mean basslines that will rock the foundations of downtown Melbourne. 

Also making his Stylus debut will be Ben Stacey. Ben has had a lifelong obsession with music. Almost ten years with punk rock outfit Bodyjar, journeys through countless genres of music and the investment of 3/4 of a decade standing behind turntables has left him with a penchant for dark rooms and a serious vinyl addiction. The boy has some serious talent, and is known for taking his audience on a voyage that twists smoothly through all styles over many layers. Expect to hear anything from assorted rare groove, nu / future / punk funk, b.boy, booty break, bashment, wonky / electro disco and maybe even some breakbeat. 

As usual, resident DJ’s Deviant and Nago will be there to provide the usual assortment of dirty beats and other crazy antics. Make sure you get down early, as this will be a full house. Also note that the $10 guestlist is limited to the first 20 people to email stylusbreaks@rocklikethis.com.au.
