La Musica is Proud to present at there new weekely event, Evil Nine, alongside with some of Melbournes most forward thinking crews.
With the new event now in full swing and the party atmosphere in motion what better way to take it up a notch than with this great act.
Evil Nine better known for there breaks back in the day are more currently steping up to the plate in the house and nu disco scene. A perfect contrast for the the new house night at the venue.

BIO
They aren’t evil and there are only two of them, but other than not living up to their randomly chosen yet aesthetically pleasing name Tom Beaufoy and Pat Pardy in no way disappoint. That’s if you are into a distinctly individual sound that defies categorization and has delivered both cerebral stimulation and dancefloor satisfaction with every release so far.
Evil Nine’s attitude is epitomised in their remix of ILS’ “Music”, a track you might recognise from the Carling advert which initially irritated purists, excited the open-minded and incited the masses to mosh and pogo at the discotheque. Other remix success has been had with krautrock band Pet, UNKLE, Moby, Timo Maas, Santos, Future Funk Squad, Will Saul and Freeland

TRIBE – New Years Day Night

Release your primal instincts this NYD Night!!

Return to a primitive time when rhythmic drums rumbled through the vast jungle and moved the savage tribes in a collective of hypnotic dance.

Brown Alley will be transformed into a massive 3 level jungle themed environment, featuring a unique interactive decor setup, cutting edge lighting displays and mind bending visuals.

This is an optional “DRESS UP PARTY” for anyone who would like to really get in theme, so come dressed as a tribal savage or any kind of jungle animal.

Be prepared Melbourne as we kick off the New Year with arguably one of the biggest broken beat lineups of the last decade!!

ALREADY THIS IS ONE OF THE FASTEST SELLING TICKETED EVENTS IN THE CLUBS HISTORY – THIS EVENT WILL 100% SELL OUT

Stanton Warriors

Stanton Warriors are the breakbeat duo Dominic Butler and Mark Yardley. They are a DJ and producer team of Breakbeat, a style of electronic dance music. Originally from the West Country, the pair now play high-profile sets at internationally-renowned clubs such as Fabric and Sankeys Soap in the UK, and travel the globe extensively, with international acclaim in Europe, Canada, America and Australia. Their style is sometimes described as a fusion of electro, breakbeat and 2-step UK garage. Their name was taken from a hexagonal shaped manhole cover, made by Stanton Ironworks, based in Ilkeston, Derbyshire which seemed fitting with their style of underground, cutting edge music.

Scratch Perverts

Tony Vegas, Prime Cuts and Plus One are the Scratch Perverts – a name that has become synonymous with HipHop and battle DJing ever since their formation in 1996. Their reputation as one of the world’s most progressive DJ collectives is unparalleled; two consecutive World DMC Team titles, Plus One’s World DMC Champion and World Vestax Champion titles, Prime Cut’s back to back World ITF Scratching crowns, and countless showcases and gigs all over the world.

Having won all there is to offer in the competition circuit, the Perverts are ready to enter the next stage of their development as recording artists. But as DJs who have contributed countless techniques and pioneered such radical innovations developing the musical language of the turntable, what the Perverts define as HipHop is a long way off what people would expect. “HipHop is a celebration of all kinds of music just by its very nature,” explains Prime Cuts. “So it follows that our album is very much a HipHop album in the broadest sense of the term. We’ve tried to do what we see HipHop as being – a celebration of all music, taking on board everything that inspires us and channelling it into our tracks.”

LTJ Bukem

Arguably the prime innovator in the development of jungle from its early status as an offshoot of hardcore techno into the respected, stylistic genre it became by the end of the 1990s, LTJ Bukem gained fame as an auteur in all fields of the drum’n'bass movement: as a top-flight breakbeat DJ, owner and label head of the Good Looking/Looking Good stable of labels and, of course, for his recordings — inspired by the lush strings and natural ambience of ’70s jazz fusion masters like Lonnie Liston Smith and Chick Corea as well as elegiac Chicago house and moody Detroit techno. Allied with the early-’90s rave and hardcore scene, Bukem began working on production near the end of the 1980s; though his light, airy sound made little sense to his contemporaries, Bukem’s style was emulated much more as the jungle scene gained momentum during the mid-’90s. While such producers as Roni Size and Goldie gained the limelight for their solo work, Bukem purposely downplayed his own artistic career in favor of mix albums and label-spanning retrospectives that highlighted dozens of artists from his labels.

A-Skillz

Adam ‘A.Skillz’ is one of the country’s most funky beatmeisters. His fierce production skills and turntable dexterity has seen him explode onto the scene, collaborating with hip-hop legends and making music for worldwide brands. At only 24 years old his incredible deck talents involve fusing funk, hip-hop and breaks with his unique style of scratching and mixing. His reputation as a true party rocker has won him prime-time slots across the UK at FabricLive, Spectrum, Chew The Fat, Supercharged, The Boutique and Sugarbeat as well as gigs around the world at major events, festivals and music industry parties such as The Hit Factory (New York), WMC (Miami) and Field Day (Sydney). A.Skillz released his debut album “TrickaTechnology” alongside Finger Lickin’s very own Krafty Kuts. The album was a nod towards musical influences like De La Soul, James Brown and Jurassic 5, true Finger Lickin’ Funk that enlisted the talents of some of the world’s best hip-hop and funk artists including Kurtis Blow, Real Elements and Ashley “Freakpower” Slater.

Netsky

Hailing from a small town in Belgium, Netsky (real name: Boris Daenen) is one of the most promising upcoming producers of the moment. In the last 4 years involved in music production, he realized that he likes his drum & bass deep and soulful. He is trying to balance the deepness and musicality of his sound with heavy beats and bass to keep the dancefloor alive. With a number of 12”s on Hype’s Liqweed Ganja and Twisted Individual’s Allsorts in the pipeline, he’s on the way to being a big name.

Shockone

Coming from a traditionally trained musical background Shock One bring a unique sound to the drum and bass music scene. Discovering the sound through artists like Bad Company, Konflict and Ed Rush & Optical, it wasn’t long before Karl Thomas and Jay Burns, at the time playing in a metal band with members of Pendulum, were experimenting in the electronic music.

It was when Shock One’s tune ‘Silverscreen’ dropped at a pendulum return show that things started to really move. Having torn the roof off it wasn’t long before Dj Friction had picked it up for his own imprint Shogun audio, backed up with Dropping science this was a debut release that made the world take notice, gaining support from Friction, Andy C and Hype to name a few. Followed by this release was ‘It’s On’ which featured the musical side of the Duo utilizing live guitars resulting in an energetic party anthem that proved Shockone were more than reeces and amens

Nick Thayer

There is no-one else who can drop a set like Nick Thayer. Every single track is his exclusive. An original. A remix. A re-edit. A bootleg. A mash-up. Equal parts hip hop, club, rave, house, drum and bass. No-one can put it together like Thayer either. Perhaps it is the throwback rock moves, the seat-of your-pants approach. Feeling kinda like a freight train on the edge of control. Some jams you will definitely know, some you might know, some you definitely won’t. All will make you move.
In the studio Nick is one of the most widely recognised and respected names across a multitude of genres.

Massive tracks like Ca$h Money, Reach For The Lazers, Mind Control (as found on PS2 game ‘Motor Storm’), and the MOP approved Ante Up remix have all blasted through sound systems like dy-no-miiiite. Sway, DJ Yoda, Wizard Sleeve, AC Slater, Sporty O, Trevor Loveys, A Skillz, and Black Noise are part of the long list of people Nick has worked with in the past year alone. With releases on Southern Fried (Fatboyslim’s label), Passenger, Sweat It Out, Klub Kids, Insane Bangers, Bombstrikes, and many more, you’ll find everyone from Kissy Sell Out to Freestylers to Cuban Brothers to Utah Saints rocking his tunes week in week out in the clubs.

TAKE A DEEP BREATH ITS ALL COMING TO BROWN ALLEY ON NEW YEARS DAY NIGHT

Mad Professor

A disciple of Lee “Scratch” Perry, Mad Professor was one of the leading producers in dub reggae’s second generation. His Dub Me Crazy albums helped dub make the transition into the digital age, when electronic productions started to take over mainstream reggae in the ’80s. His space-age tracks not only made use of new digital technology, but often expanded dub’s sonic blueprint, adding more elements and layers of sound than his forebears typically did. In the mid-’90s, he returned to the basics, debuting a more retro-sounding style on the Black Liberation Dub series. As his reputation grew, he became a remixer of choice for adventurous rock and techno acts, most notably revamping Massive Attack’s entire second album under the new title No Protection.

In 1982 he recorded his first album, Dub Me Crazy, Pt. 1, and quickly followed it with a second volume, the successful Beyond the Realms of Dub. 1983 brought two more volumes, The African Connection (often acclaimed as one of his best) and the fairly popular Escape to the Asylum of Dub.
As the ragga sound grew more and more dominant, Mad Professor’s brand of dub got spacier and weirder; while ragga detractors complained that Mad Professor’s work sounded sterile compared to the dub of old, many praised his otherworldly effects and inventive arrangements..

With his high-profile collaborators, Mad Professor started to make a name for himself outside of the reggae community, and soon found himself in demand as a remixer for rock, R&B, and electronica acts. Over the course of the ’90s and into the new millennium, he would remix tracks by Sade, the Orb, the KLF, the Beastie Boys, Jamiroquai, Rancid, Depeche Mode, and Perry Farrell, among others. His best-known project, however — and the one that truly established his credentials — was 1995′s No Protection, a completely reimagined version of trip-hop collective Massive Attack’s second album, Protection.

Mad Professor talks about the roots of Dubstep
http://youtu.be/abj5Y4kxeso

Bluetech

A classically trained pianist and master of the art of software production, Bluetech’s love of melody and his exquisite sense of sound design makes him one of the most ingenious producers today.
His sound emerges from his custom-built Reaktor instruments and software based synthesisers as a primordial electro-dub alchemy. While encompassing musical touches from different parts of the globe, he presents a total blend, crossing genres and borders. Ripe with emotive vistas, reflective passages and evocative depth Bluetech’s lush digital sound palate reflects on nature’s expression of being.

Bluetech has created a label called Native State Records to release his own music and music from other artists who cross boundaries between ambient/chill and more idm/experimental sounds.

Bluetech has releases on the internationally acclaimed Aleph Zero Records, as well as releases on Somnia Sound, Waveform Records, Thoughtless Music and his own Native State imprint. Following the release of his legendary 2005 full-length “Sines and Singularities” the New York Times labeled Bluetech “one of the best ambient artists”.

KilloWatts

Jamie Watts is the mind behind KiloWatts and his many different projects and styles. His work embraces the bulk of electronic genres, including breaks, IDM, techno, and downtempo. His fluency in piano is evident throughout his work, as is his penchant for jazzy riffs, intelligent structure, wistful melodies, and an often cheeky take on the current state and history of electronic music as a whole. His album “Ground State” is out on Native State Records, home to fellow pioneers Bluetech and Shen. It’s a collection of sweaty psychedelic downtempo grooves, churning molasses-thick basslines, and undulating synthetic sonorous mandalas.

KiloWatts has albums on Artificial Music Machine that are full of visionary dimensions, fusing together a dexterous knowledge of sound synthesis, deep emotional articulation, and solid melodic intuition. Peppered throughout these monumental statements are releases with class labels such as Harmonious Discord, Thoughtless Music, and his own outlet, KiloWatts Music, that celebrate his adept technical expertise, often bringing a whirlwind of mindblowing digital wizardry in the form of glitches and edits.

Invisible Allies is a collaboration between well known West Coast downtempo aficionado Bluetech and Philadelphia electronic mastermind KiloWatts which started in late 2010. Both established with numerous releases and projects spanning various genres, the Invisible Allies collaboration is a meeting between two distinct and imaginative minds, each with acute musical sensibilities and signature aesthetics.

Exploring futuristic spacefunk, textural ambient, odd time signatures, complex harmonic developments, detailed digitalia and a sublime sense of the exotic, the first Invisible Allies EP, “Hyperdimensional Animals,” gives a first look into what promises to be an exciting and evolving conversation between two singular and eccentric producers.

Sun:Monx

Sun:Monx is a Melbourne based collaborative project between producers OPIUO and ALBINO. Originally from New Zealand and Mexico respectively. Meeting early 2008, an instant bond to combine their unique ideas, influences and rhythmic vibrations to create live electronica was born.

Both being music lovers, and accomplished producers in their own right. With their more up-tempo creations being played and released throughout many corners of the globe.

Addicted to all shapes and forms of melody, beats, and harmony, together sun:monx take you on a live hybrid exploration into new realms of downbeat, dub, progressive beats, and all things electronica.

In only their first year on the Australasian music scene, sun:monx have been invited to play at many of the major australian outdoor festivals, including rainbow serpent + cairns winter solstice, and are about to embark on a full length studio album…

Even though the name implies more than one person, behind the FCB letters it’s only one face, Kevin. His musical preferences are really broad: from minimal techno through dance music to experimental, including dub, headz, broken beat, house, techno, electro, breakbeat – you name it. As DJ, Kevin mostly spins midtempo dance music (breakbeat, tribal, proghouse, tech house, broken beat), but this is not a limiting factor when it comes to working in the studio, purchasing “non-party” records or playing a radio set

KALYA SCINTILLA.

http://www.facebook.com/kalyascintilla?sk=info

Kalya Scintilla is Yaegon Lamagier, A benevolent being incarnate from the star system womp. Drawing inspiration from Nature, Love, tribal energy, healing, sacred geometry, and many other of life’s wonders. Yaegon’s music is quite unique in style and is definitely an interesting cross over between Dubstep/ Glitch Hop, the seductive sound of the Middle East and traditional Gypsy. His first EP “InLak…esh” has been given a warm welcome the world over, and sits near the pinnacle of Addictech.com’s 2010 yearly chart.

My name is Bill however, I am currently more well known for writing and performing electronic music under the pseudonym ‘Mr. Bill’.
This project is based around evocation, I like to write music that excites the ear and the brain. This requires me to explore all sorts of strange production methods and musical theories to keep exciting my senses.
I started writing music in 1996. From 1996 to 2004 I explored all sorts of contemporary music, in 2004 I began using Garageband and exploring electronic music. In 2006 I was introduced to Ableton Live by a friend and since then I have spent most of my time learning more about it and refining my craft to the point it is at now.

THE UPBEATS (NZ)

Terror Snake and Downie Wolf are The Upbeats, one of the most legendary production/DJ teams to emerge out the fertile New Zealand drum and bass scene.
With a decade of experience behind them, The Upbeats have toured the world. Along the way, they’ve released three albums and countless internationally distributed classic singles.
Favouring a digital pub-rock sound in the club and genuine emotion when it comes to home listening, their sound/attitude has seen them work with, or remix for Ed Rush and Optical, Noisia, Gridlock, Hive and many others. And still, for this duo, the best is yet to come.

Hybrid Sound System (UK)

Since first bursting onto the scene with the now classic album Wide Angle in 1999, the Swansea, Wales-based Hybrid have been known as one of the most forward thinking and technically skilled acts in electronic dance music. Blurring the line between in-studio production and live presentation, Hybrid are one of the few remaining dance acts to perform live with a classic band setup.

Though, much has changed on the road to Hybrid’s fourth artist album Disappear Here. Most notable is the addition of Hybrid’s third member – singer/ songwriter Charlotte James – to go along with founders Chris Healings and Mike Truman.

Charlotte’s impact is marked as Disappear Here is truly an album of real songs and not merely dance beats with vocals on top. It offers a lot more than anything Hybrid has ever previously written and pushes boundaries in every way.

With Disappear Here, Hybrid have managed to create an epic and unique sound which has progressed dramatically from its original dance inception but still retains much of what makes electronic music so exciting. The album features guest vocals from Tim Hutton, drums from Alex Madge and the City of Prague Philharmonic Orchestra.

Rack & Ruin (UK)

This young London producer has already harnessed the support of BBC’s Annie Mac, Nick Grimshaw, Kissy Sell-Out, Toddla T, DJ Zinc, Fake Blood, Shy FX, Jack Beats, Boy 8-Bit, and many more with his latest releases.

Remix credits include Nas & Damien Marley, I Blame Coco, Aggro Santos, The Nextmen feat. Groove Armada & Ms. Dynamite, Zero 7, and The Freestylers. Future projects include collaborations with Island Records, Southern Fried Records, Fat! Records, MC Navigator, Slarta John (Basement Jaxx), new vocalist Jessie Ware, and many more established vocalists and artists.

Miss Jaime has proven her standing as one of the most highly regarded female DJ’s in Brisbane. Her first club gig in 2008 set the ball rolling, and since then, has not looked back.

Playing anything from minimal and rolling techno to electro and dubstep, she is an artist impossible to pigeonhole. Miss Jaime has graced the decks of Alhambra, Barsoma, Electric Playground, The Empire, Birdee Num Nums, GPO Hotel, Emporium and the Family, just to name a few. She has also played at festivals such as Liberate, Southern Oracle and Manifest.

Miss Jaime’s extensive music collection and in depth knowledge of underground techno and tech house has meant achieving a number of highly regarded support slots for touring international artists. Such artists include Doctor P (UK), Kazu Kimura (Spain/Japan), Slam (UK), Eddie Halliwell (UK), Coyu (Spain), Martin Roth (UK) and most recently, Danny Howells (UK) and breaks sensation Skool of Thought (UK).

Impressive performances behind the decks have earned this talented DJ interviews and feature articles in Scene magazine, Rave, Time Off, 3D World and inthemix.com, as well as guest mixes on Hrmny TV, Switch1197 and Radio Metro. Brisbane’s leading promoters continue to send bookings Miss Jaime’s way, having already worked with local crews such as Breaks & Enter, Praxis, Dubthugs, Auditree, Subtrakt, Elements, Let’s Get Minimal, and many more.

Miss Jaime is continuing to carve her way through the local scene, and having recently teamed up with local breaks lady Katie Karma, continues to make an impressionable dent on the dance music scene. Stay tuned.

CLAIRE G PHUNK:-
———————
“I got lucky when I was a lil girl and discovered that…’Ummmmm I can sing’, and it all blew up from there…Gettin thrown out of class for singing at the top of my lungs and spending all my spare time in the music room writing songs…Always been my one and only passion in life.
Since leaving school at the age of 15, I joined a band, started recording original tracks and now Im in Oz and doing some pretty awesome gigs.
My most fun was being a part of the formerly known Darftphunk, Now Pimpsoul. We played some crackin gigs together…Love love love Him…
Have worked with the Drumattic Twins, Featurecast, 2 bit Thugs, Busta, Omegaman Sounsystem and Im hoping to branch out and record with a lot more people….”
